Man's nose thwarts suicide attempt

A Frenchman has miraculously survived a suicide attempt after a bullet he fired into his head became lodged in his nose.

The 47-year-old shot himself under the chin in a suicide bid in the tiny village of Capelle-lès-Hesdin

But instead of doing any serious damage - the bullet got caught in his nose.

Apart from a little blood the man was perfectly fine and even managed to drive himself to hospital.

France has one of the higher suicide rates in Europe, with an average of around 27 people each day taking their own lives
