Floods transform paddock into 'water bed'

The floods swamping the UK have had a remarkable side effect: transforming one field into a natural water bed.

A couple posted this footage to LiveLeak after stumbling into what they first mistook for a muddy bog while walking their dog in New Forest, in southern England.

But after treading on the bizarrely "squashy" ground, they realised the phenomenon was caused by a layer of water trapped under the topsoil.

The video shows the dog's bewildered reaction as its master pokes through the field with a stick and releases a gushing torrent of water.
