Electrical explosions rip through UK train carriage

Passengers on a UK train were forced to shelter after a massive electrical explosion surged through the bottom of a carriage.

Video taken yesterday from on board the train and across the street, showed sparks flying underneath the carriage while stopped at Dorchester South station in Dorset.

The concession of explosions lit up the night sky as emergency crews could be heard approaching in the distance.

The accident was a result of electrical arcing which occurs when gas in the train’s machinery ignites.

A South West Trains spokesman told the BBC nobody was injured.

"Passengers were taken off the 18:03 Weymouth to Waterloo service at Dorchester South station after reports of electrical arcing underneath the train,” a spokesman said.

"Emergency services were called as a precaution, but were not required. There was no fire, although the incident did result in flashes, smoke and a bang, as well as cosmetic damage to the train."
