A cyclist in the UK jumped off his bike but was unable to avoid being hit head-on by a car that drove onto the footpath in an allegedly deliberate attack.

A video of the hit-and-run that occurred in Cippenham, Berkshire last month was posted on Facebook on Monday.

It shows the cyclist riding on the footpath in the direction of the black VW when the car suddenly leaves the road, mounts the gutter and drives towards the bike rider.

The cyclist jumps off his bike to get out of the way but can't avoid the car that swerve to hit him.

The impact knocks the rider head over heels onto a parked car nearby but despite the hit he doesn't stay down for long.

He gets straight to his feet, picks up something off the ground and limps towards the car as fast as he can.

As the VW slows to negotiate a speed hump the cyclist smashes the vehicle's rear window with the item in his hand.

Thames Valley Police said Adeel Ahmed had been arrested over the incident and charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, the Slough Times reports.

His trial is scheduled for November 2016 at Reading Crown Court.
