Two English 10-year-old boys poured a bleach-like chemical into their primary school teacher's coffee after drawing up a "hit list" of educators at the school.

The two pupils poured a homemade concoction of bathroom products into Emma Place's steel coffee flask at their school in Leamington Spa, near Birmingham.

Ms Place was about to drink the poisoned coffee when another student stopped her, the Sun reported.

A parent at the school told the newspaper the act was a "playground prank that went too far".

"A small gang had formed calling themselves the Mafia," the parent said.

"They had apparently written down a list of six teachers."

Police said the boys "did not realise the seriousness" of what they had done.

The school said the boys have been disciplined but would not disclose how.
