Bollywood star bashed in attempted robbery in Paris

A Bollywood actress has been tear-gassed and beaten by masked men outside a Paris apartment block near where Kim Kardashian was robbed of millions of dollars of jewellery.

Actress and model Mallika Sherawat, 40, and an unidentified man were arriving at the building in the 16th arrondissement at 9.40pm last Friday when three attackers set upon them, Le Parisien reports.

"Without saying a word" the bandits allegedly tear-gassed the victims and then began punching them.

The pair then called police, who have launched an investigation, reportedly working on the assumption the attack was an attempted robbery.

The incident was only made public by French Police last night.

The attack comes after the October 3 robbery of Kardashian in a Paris apartment.

The reality TV star was reportedly tied up by armed men who robbed her of $14 million worth of jewellery.

French prosecutors are investigating the robbery but so far no suspect has been arrested.

Investigators are examining security footage and DNA traces found in the luxury apartment where five gunmen robbed Kardashian.
