BMW CEO collapses on stage during auto show presentation

The CEO of German carmaker BMW has collapsed on stage during a presentation at the Frankfurt motor show.

Video of the event shows 49-year-old BMW boss Harald Krueger go uneasy on his feet before falling backwards on the stage.

Two aides rush to his side and helped him up before he was assisted off the stage.

A spokesman took to the public address system to inform the gathered crowd the presentation had been cancelled.

"I'm a bit lost for words," the spokesman said.

"BMW will try to redo the press conference at a later stage."

It was Mr Krueger's first appearance for the luxury carmaker as CEO, since taking over the top job in May.

Reporters were told later that Mr Krueger has been seen by a doctor and is not seriously ill.
