An Ohio two-year-old boy has been filmed flawlessly mimicking the workout routine of iconic film character Rocky Balboa.

Video captured by his amused mother shows aspiring young boxer Charlie Magilavy pummelling the air, pretending to jump rope, and performing push ups, in perfect imitation of the Rocky II scene.

The video, posted to father Zack Magilavy’s Facebook page earlier this month, has since been viewed more than two million times, and has even earned the attention of Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone himself.

The toddler took a shine to the film after he first saw his father watching it. He eventually went on to memorise the entire sequence – of his own volition.

“For the last eight or nine months, he asked us once a day if he can watch it,'' Mr Magilavy, 34, told TODAY US.

"Over time he started doing one move here and one move there until he had the whole routine down.”

The Magilvys, while supportive of their son’s new passion, are making sure he does not accidentally see some of the film’s more violent fight sequences.

"We figured he gets a little exercise and has a good time,” Mr Magilavy said.

"Hopefully he keeps that motivation going as he gets older."
