A turtle has lived to swim another day after crashing through the windshield of a car in Central Florida.
Nicole Bjanes was driving along a highway in Volusia County last week when the turtle came hurtling toward her windscreen after being clipped by another car.
“The car in front of me hit the turtle that was crossing the road which propelled it through my windshield, hit the back of the passenger seat and then landed on the dashboard,” Ms Bjanes told ABC News US.
“I was kind of hysterical, thinking what just happened,” she said.
She suffered minor cuts and was treated at the scene.
The turtle was checked out by wildlife officers and came away mostly unscathed except for a minor cut on his tail.
Ms Bjanes posted photos to her Facebook page with the caption, “so this happened today… CRAZY!”
“All the people who stopped and the Emergency Medical Technician were taking pictures,” she wrote.
The photo has since been shared more than 8000 times.
