Train smashes into abandoned car stuck on tracks

Two US men have watched in horror as their car was smashed by a train after it became stuck on the tracks.

The collision happened in downtown Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

As a train bears down on them in the distance, the men desperately try to re-start their white Honda and move it out of harm's way, but without success.

The train rams the car at near full-speed, its horn blaring, pushing the car down the tracks and out of sight of the bystander filming, Aaron Fechter.

Mr Fechter said he has seen cars get stuck on the tracks at the same spot "half a dozen times".

"I heard the train whistle blowing, and I knew what was going to happen," he said.

Later, one of the men can be seen getting into the now-smashed up car and driving off, to the cheers of onlookers.

No one was injured in the smash, and police are investigating.
