Tourist snapping selfie falls down well

An Austrian tourist had to be rescued from a well when she fell in while trying to take a selfie.

The woman, only identified as Friedel, was visiting a fort in the western Indian town of Junagadh on Monday when the incident happened, The BBC reports.

Police said that after hearing screams locals gathered around the well and pulled her out using a rope made of shirts tied together.

A video of the rescue shows Friedel clinging to the makeshift rope and walking up the wall as locals lift her to safety.

Once back above ground the woman lies down exhausted and drinks from a water bottle offered to her.

She suffered minor injuries, with the video showing abrasions on her left leg.
