A tour guide has saved a baby dolphin washed up on a beach in Namibia.

The guide, who posted video of the rescue online today, said he was returning from a tour when he noticed the juvenile male Benguela Dolphin lying on the sand.

The video shows the guide gently picking the dolphin up and staggering slightly under its weight as he carries it into the water.

Oncoming waves initially buffet the dolphin around but the guide steers the dolphin into deeper waters until it takes off.

The guide, who goes by the online name ‘Ima pirate’ said when he first saw the dolphin he wasn';t sure if it could be saved.

“I was not very hopeful, but as soon as he got into water and realised where he was he took off like a bullet. Nice,” he wrote in his video description.
