World Airline Awards reveals best carriers of 2024
Customers have crowned the best of the best at the World Airline Awards overnight in London.
Organised by Skytrax since 1999, the awards let customers rate airlines on a number of factors, including customer service and value for money.
Australia's main airlines didn't fare so well, with Qantas dropping from 17th to 24th in the top 100, Virgin Australia from 46th to 54th, and Jetstar from 69th to 74th.
Rex managed to climb six spots up the rankings to 50th.

20. Saudi Arabian Airlines
Saudi Arabian Airlines came in at 20.
It was also awarded the Most Improved Airline for 2024.
19. Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways was voted the 19th best in the world.
18. Lufthansa
Lufthansa, Europe's largest airline and Germany's flagship carrier, was 18th.
17. Virgin Atlantic
Soaring compared to their antipodean cousins, Virgin Atlantic was ranked 17th.
14. Fiji Airways
Fiji Airways, at 14th, scooped the pool in our local region, named both the best Australia-Pacific airline and the one with the best staff.
13. British Airways
The 13th-placed British Airways was also named the best family-friendly airline for 2024.
That award is based on a number of factors including seating policies, children's amenities and onboard entertainment, and service assistance.
12. Hainan Airlines
China's fourth-largest airline, Hainan was also voted the country's best.
11. Korean Air
Korean Air was just outside the top 10.
7. Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines also took gongs as the best airline in Europe, and for the best business class catering.
