The top 10 wealthiest cities in the world
The world's wealthiest cities for 2025 have been revealed in new rankings by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.
Researchers drew on data by Henley & Partners and the wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth showing the numbers of billionaires and millionaires in every city to establish the global hubs of the super-rich.
And this year, one Australian city broke into the top 10. Click through for more.
10. Chicago
Chicago, known for its background of skyscrapers, also hits the height for wealth.
The biggest city in the US state of Illinois is home to 127,100 millionaires and 25 billionaires.
9. Sydney
Despite the cost of living crisis facing many Australians, Sydney comes in at number nine.
Among the Harbour City's 5 million residents are 22 billionaires, while the number of millionaires there has risen by 28 per cent over the past year to 152,900.
8. Hong Kong
The territory of Hong Kong has been under a crackdown on political dissent by the mainland Chinese government in recent years, but remains home to some of the world's super rich.
It boasts 44 billonaires.
6. London
Despite the struggles of the UK economy, London continues to attract the super rich.
It has 33 billionaires among its residents, but recorded a 12 per cent drop in the number of millionaires to 215,700.
5. Los Angeles
Los Angeles is an economic powerhouse, driven by international trade, entertainment and other industries.
The "City of Angels" has 45 billionaires and 220,600 millionaires who live there.
4. Singapore
Known as a global trading and financial hub, the city state of Singapore boasts 242,600 millionaires - up 65 per cent in the past 12 months - and 45 billionaires.
Singapore's lenient individual and corporate tax rates is a major reason for attracting the super rich.
3. Tokyo
Among Tokyo's staggering population of 37 million people are 18 billionaires, the lowest among the top 10.
In contrast, the capital of Japan has the highest number of millionaires at 292,300.
2. Bay area of California
Powering up the rankings is the Bay Area of California, which includes San Francisco and the uber rich tech hub Silicon Valley.
The number of millionaires rose by a staggering 98 per cent as it pushed several established cities aside to grab second spot.
