A morning television host Kathie Lee has been roasted on social media for looking totally disinterested during an on-air interview with celebrity scientist Bill Nye.

Nye, best known for his Emmy-winning children's show 'Bill Nye the Science Guy', appeared on the US version of the TODAY Show to discuss all things science.

However, rather than being taken aback by his "genius", viewers and social media users couldn't get past Lee's bored expression.

At one point during the interview, which aired overnight and included a live cross to co-host Hoda Kotb, Lee seemed so agitated by Nye's commentary on the mechanisms of a snowflake she did little to hide it.

"You've got to have all the right conditions for a snowflake to sit together… so they get all the way to the ground," Nye says, demonstrating with a paper-cut-out.

As he continues to discuss the flight of the snowflake and how the wind helps break them up, Lee attempts to casually cut him off.

"Okay good," she says before turning in anticipation to throw to her co-host.

However, the former science professor pushes on, much to the chagrin of Lee who slouches in her chair, grimacing at the camera.

Since the segment aired in the US, Lee has been the subject of heated criticism online, causing a cluster of comments on YouTube and Reddit.

"If you are going to invite someone on your show, at least pretend like you are interested in what he is saying," one YouTube user wrote.

"Can she be fired? She has Bill Nye on and treats him like trash," another wrote.
