Today in History - July 23: Director told parents their kids would not be in any danger before fatal on-set accident
Three actors were killed in a dangerous stunt on the set of the Twilight Zone movie on July 23, 1982.
Vic Morrow and child actors Myca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen were killed when a helicopter crashed into them on set in a special effects malfunction.
Vanessa Williams was forced to resign as Miss America on July 23, 1984, after nude photos of her were published in Penthouse magazine.
The photos were taken before she had entered the pageant and were published without her consent.
Williams said the photographer had sought to shoot a nude silhouette of her when she was 19.
"He assured me that none of the photographs would ever leave the studio," she said.
"I trusted him not to do anything with the photographs. That was my error."
Williams went on to become a successful actress and singer. She would receive an apology from the pageant in 2015.
