In a televised trial, Jiang was accused of persecuting artists during the Cultural Revolution, and authorising the burglary of homes to recover material that would damage her reputation.
Jiang was part of the so-called Gang of Four, a group of prominent officials tied to Chairman Mao Zedong who were scapegoated for the widespread deaths during his reign.
Jiang had been arrested less than a month after her husband's death.
On trial, she blamed her husband for her actions.
"I was Chairman Mao's dog. I bit whomever he asked me to bite," she said.
She was never executed, but died a year after her release in 1991.
