When she would arrive at the address, he was not there.

Instead he would disappear and sell her things at markets.

Vigliotto did this successfully to 104 victims.

But the 105th drove to every market she could find, eventually tracking him down in Florida.

The determined wife, Sharon Clark, was ripped off of $US49,000 and left at a Canadian motel.

He was put on trial, during which many of his wives testified against him.

One jilted bride told the court her "prince had turned into a frog".

He had proposed to her the day after they met, borrowed $US1600 in cash from her, then disappeared with tens of thousands worth of inventory from her clothing shop.

He was sentenced to 28 years in prison, and died behind bars at Arizona State Prison eight years later.

"I don't think they fell for him," jilted bride Patricia Ann Gardiner said of Vigliotto's other wives.

He died in jail. AP
