A three-year-old girl in the US has cemented her place on Santa's nice list after befriending a Saint Nick who she would not let eat alone.

Gracie Lynn Wilson was having breakfast with her parents at a Bob Evans restaurant in Evansville, Indiana, when she spotted "Santa Cwaus", as she called him, dining in a nearby booth on Thursday.

With mum's permission, Gracie Lynn pulled up a chair and started chatting with the man, dressed in red overalls, with a long silver beard and curly silver hair.

A touching photos of the youngster keeping the lonely Santa-lookalike company has been seen by tens of thousands of people, with many touched by Gracie Lynn's generous act.

"They just started having a conversation like they'd known each other for years," mum Lindsey Wilson told WFIE.

When asked what she wanted for Christmas, Gracie didn't want any presents.

She told Santa all she wants is to meet her unborn baby brother James, who is due in three weeks.

Speaking to WFIE at a local shopping mall photo booth, Santa said he thinks Gracie is pretty special and that her Christmas wish might just come true.
