Magician declared best in show's history

A 26-year-old professional magician has has wowed the judges on Britain's Got Talent - with Simon Cowell declaring him the best magician the show has ever had.

Canadian Darcy Oakes told the packed theatre he had travelled to the UK specially to try out for the show before launching into a polished magic show which made the judge's jaws drop.

"You are, without question, the best magician we've ever had on the show," Cowell said. "You weren’t corny, it was very difficult what you did and I think we've uncovered a star with you. I really do."

Oakes said he hoped the sleight of hand and illusion show would see him performing on a global scale. 

"When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams of becoming a doctor but my parents insisted that I become a magician. So, here I am," he said. "If it goes well, it could change my life."
