Taliban uses IED to blow up Afghan helicopter

Powered by

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for blowing up an Afghan helicopter after hiding an explosive underneath the landing pad.

Footage of the March 24 incident in north-eastern province of Kunar was released by the terrorist group after the Afghan National Army claimed the helicopter was damaged in an emergency landing.

Purported footage of the incident reveals otherwise.

The video shows the transport helicopter allegedly carrying 21 commandoes attempting to land.

After several failed attempts it finally touches down, inadvertently on top of a buried Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

A man off camera shouts 'Allahu Akbar' as the click of a detonator is heard, just before the massive aircraft explodes in ball of fire.

The placement of the IED at the landing site has promoted the Afghan National Army to bolster its security measures.
