A Starbucks cashier in the US has learned sign language so she could provide “the same experience as everyone else” to a deaf customer.

The customer, Ibby Piracha, shared the story on Facebook last week, in a post that has received more than 9000 likes and been shared 2838 times.

The cashier handed Mr Piracha a note to let him know she was learning.

“I’ve been learning ASL just so you can have the same experience as everyone else,” the note read.

In the Facebook post, Mr Piracha said he was a regular customer.

“I am surprised she is learning sign language because I attend Starbucks three times a week,” he said.

He went on to say he was “blessed” to have a cashier like her.

Mr Piracha hopes the post will make people more understanding of the deaf community.
