Customers wrestle with gun-wielding thief in Spain

A gun-wielding thief looking for a quick pay-day underestimated the customers who - instead of cowering in fear - fought the man for his gun.

Captured on CCTV, the thief, wearing a motorcycle helmet, entered the convenience store in Seville, in southern Spain's Andalusia region on Tuesday at around 1pm.

The bandit pulled a gun from his pants, handing the shopkeeper a plastic bag clearly intended to be filled with cash.

However, a female customer wasn't having it.

She quickly approached the man and whacked him over the head with her handbag.

The three wrestled however the female customer refused to let go of his gun arm.

As the three wrestled, someone not captured by the CCTV camera started to throw items from the store at the would-be-thief.

As the robber continued to try to reclaim his gun arm back from the customers, an accomplice entered the store.

They grab the thief's arms and drag him away from the other two customers.

According to local media, the robber was arrested.

Police are reportedly investigating whether he was responsible for other thefts in the area.
