Social media has been flooded by tributes following a string of deadly attacks in Paris, as people the world over throw their support behind the besieged city.
Among subjects currently trending on Facebook and Twitter, “Paris”, “#PrayforParis”, “fusillade” (shooting) and #PortOuverte (open door) currently rank among some of the highest.
#PrayforParis and #PortOuverte mark a mounting spirit of solidarity and goodwill in the wake of the tragedy, as non-Parisians offer their condolences for victims and their families and Parisians offer shelter to non-French speakers.
While the death toll continues to climb, with at least 140 now confirmed dead, support for those affected remains strong.
