San Francisco 'Mummy House' sells for more than 800k over asking price

A mummified corpse left to rot for five years in a San Francisco home did little to scare away home owners, with the property selling this week for more than $800, 000 over the original asking price.

The city’s Lake District home sold for $2.16 million from its initial minimum bidding price of $1.29million.

The former owner, Anna Ragin, had allegedly died five years earlier, but her daughter failed to report that her mother’s body was still at the home.

Ragin's body wasn’t the only discovery at the San Francisco house; rats, mould and hundreds of bottles of urine were also found.

These disturbing findings were removed before the two-bedroom home went up for sale in June.

However, before the house could be sold, confirmation from the court needed to take place because Ragin’s death had not previously been reported.

Once confirmed, the sale price of the "mummy house"- as it had become known - ended up being significantly higher than the initial bidding price.

Clearly, the new home owners aren’t easily spooked.
