UK woman charged over murder of her 'beautiful' twin toddlers after car crash

A British woman has appeared in court charged over the murder of her toddler twins following a car crash.

Police say Samantha Ford killed her two 23-month-old twins Jake and Chloe on December 26.

The 37-year-old appeared in Canterbury Magistrates' Court on Saturday on two counts of murder.

Ms Ford was hospitalised after a car crash on Thursday, prompting police to go to her home in Margate, 120 kilometres away, out of concern for her children.

Both were found dead and Ms Ford was arrested.

The father of the children, Steven Ford, recently posted a photo of the twins to Twitter.

“Daddy's twins xxx my beautiful babies. I love you,” he wrote.

Mr Ford also shared a posted of he and his daughter just days prior to the children’s alleged murder.

“Snuggling with my fave girl #daughter #myworld #twins,” he wrote.

She is in custody and her case will be back in court on Monday.
