Russian school principal caught train surfing with students

A Russian head teacher is fending off calls for his dismissal after he was filmed train-surfing with some of his students.

Konstantin Shvets was filmed riding along the top of train with several pupils in the Russian city of Balashikha.

In one of the videos a young student can be seen falling off the back of the train and onto the rails as Shvets laughs.

It is not the first time the principal has been caught train surfing. Shvets was arrested for two years ago after being caught by rail officials but managed to avoid criminal charges, the Mirror reports.

Activist Anton Tsvetkov, who started an initiative against train surfing claims it was through his efforts the principal's negligent actions were exposed this week, the Mirror reports.

"I have a question to the officials who are supposed to check a teacher's criminal past and other credentials," Tsvetkov said.

"Have you ever delved into who that man is? We have handed all the material that we have on him to the police."

Shvets has defended his actions telling local media outlets the footage in question was taken at least three years ago, prior to his employment at his current school.
