Russian hunters arrested over vicious bear attack

Russian police have arrested two men and a woman over a violent attack on a brown bear in the country’s far east.

Two men who trapped a brown bear under their SUV, allegedly threatened to assault it with a stick, the Siberian Times reports.

The three hunters are under investigation for cruelty to animals over the horrendous incident which happened on Iturup island.

After running the animal over eight times with their SUV and trapping it under the tyres, the two men got out and trampled on the bear’s back and kicked it.

Then, during a foul conversation they threaten to bash it with a stick. When that doesn’t come to fruition, they plan to simply kill the prone beast with a knife.

The bear managed to free itself and in a rage destroyed the tyre it had been trapped under before charging at the second SUV with the three inside.

If convicted the three face a jail term of up to six months, corrective labour or a fine.
