A Russian airline has been forced to make an emergency landing after an engine blew out shortly after taking off from Manas International airport in ex-soviet Kyrgyzstan.

The Tez Jet flight, carrying 96 passengers, was forced to return to the runway after an engine was spotted smoking and hanging by a thread from the wing of the aircraft, reports the Mirror.

The pilot requested the emergency landing, less than 30 minutes after take-off.
