Comedian Russell Brand is reportedly keen to take on Boris Johnson's job as mayor of London.
He has apparently told friends he would like to run for mayor after Johnson's term is up in 2016, The Independent reported.
A spokesperson for the comedian refused to comment on the reports.
He is apparently gearing up to stand on an independent anti-politics ticket.
In a recent interview with the Financial Times, the 39-year-old former husband to Katy Perry said he might be considering giving up acting.
Brand said he would give up the fame and fortune: "All of the glamour, all of the things that capitalism promises" are "worthless and meaningless".
"It makes me scared if I think about money too much, then it makes me feel guilty," he said.
Brand launched his book Revolution last week and was criticised for his comments about 9/11 in an interview with the BBC.
