French daredevil reaches alarming speeds on rocket-powered bike

A French cyclist who rides a rocket-powered bike has broken his own world speed record, clocking an alarming 333km/h in a drag race against a Ferrari f430 Scuderia.

Francoise Gissy, who set the previous record of 285km/h in October last year, performed his feat at Circuit Paul Ricard in France on Friday.

A video of the run shows an immense plume of smoke behind Gissy's bicycle, before it accelerates to more than 300km/h in less than five seconds, leaving the performance car in its wake.

The bike was built by Swiss company Exotic Thermo Engineering.
