Road explodes in car's path

A car has narrowly avoided disaster after a water main exploded, sending a surge of water up through the bitumen.

The near-miss was captured on dashcam as the car navigated the road in Novokuznetsk, Russia.

The footage makes for incredible viewing as the road suddenly opens only metres away, spraying chunks of bitumen into the air.

The quick-thinking driver manages to avert disaster and makes a hasty exit as the rush of water fills the busy street.
