Rachel Maddow infuriates viewers with drawn out intro of Trump tax story

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow is getting a drubbing on Twitter for dragging out her expose on Donald Trump's tax returns for more than 20 minutes.

Maddow announced via Twitter that she had details of Trump's 2005 tax return to air at midday AEDT.

But with the eyes of a nation on her cable news program, Maddow gave a 20-minute monologue discussing Trump's ties to Russian officials, Deutsche Bank and Turkey.

Her argument was that the release of Trump's full tax returns would offer full disclosure and clear him of any wrongdoing.

But viewers were deeply frustrated that such a big revelation was delayed by a 20-minute speech followed by an ad break.

After the ad break, Maddow pointed viewers to DC Report, a news website that has since crashed.

Some details of Trump's 2005 tax return were revealed by the White House in the half-an-hour before Maddow's show went to air.
