Raccoon caught hitching ride with alligator

In an uncharacteristic display of animal mateship, a raccoon has been caught riding an alligator in Florida.

Richard Jones told WFTV in Orlando that he and his family were walking along the Oklawaha River in the Ocala National Forest when his son startled a raccoon, which stumbled towards the water and hopped onto the alligator that was near the bank.

He said he quickly took the photo before the raccoon scurried back to dry ground.
