US President Donald Trump has replaced the acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Daniel Ragsdale, and appointed law enforcement veteran Thomas D. Homan in his place.
Mr Homan, a 33-year veteran of law enforcement, was today appointed the position of the Acting ICE director.
"He has nearly 30 years of immigration enforcement experience," a statement from Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said.
"I look forward to working alongside him to ensure that we enforce our immigration laws," Mr Kelly said.
"I am confident that he will continue to serve as a strong, effective leader for the men and woman of ICE."
The announcement comes just hours after Mr Trump fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates after she refused to defend his controversial executive order on immigration restrictions.

The statement does not say why former Acting ICE director Daniel Ragsdale was fired.
