Pistorius will write book about shooting girlfriend, manager confirms

Convicted killer Oscar Pistorius is set to write a book about the 2013 shooting of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius' manager Peet van Zyl told The Guardian that the sprinter would be publishing a book in order to "get his side of the story on paper".

"We've discussed it. We've talked about ideas and concepts," he said.

The book will follow on from 2009's memoir Blade Runner, published well before he shot his girlfriend through the bathroom door in their home.

Pistorius was charged with Steenkamp's murder following the shooting but was last week convicted of the lesser charge of culpable manslaughter – comparable to the Australian charge of manslaughter.

Steenkamp's family rejected the judge's findings, saying that they were  in "disbelief" at the verdict.

"I just don't feel that this is the right verdict," Reeva's mother June said.

There is no minimum sentence for culpable manslaughter in South Africa, leaving open the possibility that Pistorius could again compete at the Paralympics.

He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Pistorius will be sentenced on October 3.
