A high-voltage power line has collapsed on a residential street in the Philippines.

A member of the Muntinlupa City fire department sent a drone up to record a fire that broke out underneath a large power line in Manila on Wednesday.

Shortly after the camera started recording thick plumes of smoke filling the air as the fire intensified, the 230kv tower started to lean.

The red-hot flames had compromised the structural integrity of the tower and it soon started to plummet toward the ground.

White bolts of electricity could be seen piercing through the clouds smoke before the tower came to a stop just before hitting a busy motorway.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said the accident did not cause any outages, ABS CBN reported.

There were no reported injuries.
