Rose Byrne, Jacob Elordi lead Aussie charge for Oscars

Rose Byrne and Jacob Elordi are leading the charge for Australia after the 2026 Academy Award nominees were announced overnight.

Byrne, fresh off her Golden Globe win for thriller film If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, is nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for the same film.

Elordi has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Creature in Frankenstein, after winning a Critics' Choice Award for the same performance.

History has already been made for this year's awards, with Ryan Coogler's blues-infused vampire movie Sinners picking up a record 16 nominations, including for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Screenplay.

The awards ceremony will air on March 15 (US time) and will be hosted by Conan O'Brien.
