Hollywood's night of nights comes to an end

And just like that, another awards season has come to an end.

The 2026 Oscars went off without a hitch (unlike that La La Land/Moonlight mixup from 2017 and the time Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in 2022), with fan favourites Jessie Buckley and Michael B. Jordan taking out the two biggest acting awards of the night.

Paul Thomas Anderson took home two of the other biggest awards - Best Director, and Best Picture for One Battle After Another - plus a third for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Sinners, which made history with the most Oscars nominations of all time this year, also snagged multiple awards, including Best Cinematography and Best Original Screenplay.

Sadly, two of Australia's most beloved exports missed out on major awards. Rose Byrne lost the Best Actress Oscar to Buckley, while Jacob Elordi missed out on the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award, which went to Sean Penn (who didn't even attend).

But what the Aussies lacked in trophies they made up for in style on the red carpet, where Byrne and Nicole Kidman were among some of the best dressed.

And the fun isn't over yet.

Though the official ceremony is well and truly over, A-listers are still flocking to after parties across LA in even more glamorous outfits (you can see them all on 9honey).That wraps up our coverage of the 2026 Oscars - we'll see you next year!

What a night it's been!

And just like that, another Oscars ceremony has come to a close.

The night delivered plenty of standout wins, emotional speeches and, of course, a red carpet full of sparkle, covering everything from classic glamour to the surprising return of feathers!

Hosted by Conan O'Brien, the ceremony kept the laughs coming as Hollywood's biggest stars celebrated another year in film.

It's been short, it's been sweet, but for now, it's time for me to had back to the MAFS dinner parties.

Nicole and Ewan's cheeky tribute for Best Picture

Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor marked 25 years of their incredible musical Moulin Rouge with a little sing-along before announcing the winner of the biggest award of the night.

And the winner of Best Picture for 2026 was ... One Battle After Another.

The film was nominated for a whopping 13 awards and took home six, including two for Paul Thomas Anderson.

The whole cast got up on stage to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Producer Sara Murphy said her heart was "exploding with gratitude", Anderson honoured "so many great films this year" and took time to celebrate his leading cast members, including Leonardo DiCaprio.

And with that, the 2026 Oscars were finished.

You can find the full winners list, red carpet gallery, and all the best bits from the many lavish afterparties on 9honey.

No surprises for Best Actress

Maddison Leach

The award for Best Actress has gone to fan favourite Jessie Buckley, who burst into tears the moment her name was called.

Buckley picked up several best actress awards on the circuit before the Oscars and was the category frontrunner.

Australian star Rose Byrne was also nominated for her role in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You.

She's just the latest in a string of Aussies who were snubbed tonight, including Jacob Elordi and Nick Cave.

Irish actress Buckley thanked the cast and crew of Hamnet, as well as her family, who were flown to the awards ceremony by Ireland.

"It's Mother's Day in the UK today so I'd like to dedicate this to the beautiful chaos of a mother's heart," she said.

"We all come from a lineage of women who continue to create against all odds, thank you for recognising me in this role. This is the greatest honour, I can't even believe it."

And the award for Best Actor goes to...

Adrien Brody kicked off presenting the Best Actor Oscar with a cheeky nod to his win last year, pretending to spit out gum and pulling out a long fake acceptance speech before introducing the nominees.

So who actually won? Michael B. Jordan.

Despite Timothee Chalamet's high-profile campaign for Marty Supreme, Jordan's incredible performance as twins Smoke and Stack in Sinners couldn't be denied.

Jordan basked in the applause as he received a standing ovation before delivering a moving acceptance speech.

He thanked his mother, his father who flew in from Ghana to be at the ceremony, his siblings, director Ryan Coogler, and many more.

"I stand here because of the people who came before me," he said of the Black actors and actresses who have taken home acting Oscars in the past.

Zendaya makes a surprise appearance

Evelyn Ellis

Zendaya appeared on stage to present the award for Best Director, and I need to share what might be a biased appearance.

For a moment, I thought I'd grow out my bob... but Zendaya has now changed my mind because everyone knows, we all do what Zendaya does.

Here come the big ones

Maddison Leach

Paul Thomas Anderson has snagged his second Oscar of the night, this time for Best Director for One Battle After Another.

He also won Best Adapted Screenplay tonight, and these are the first two Oscars he's ever won.

"This is a wonderful gift and I'm so happy to call the movies home," he said as he thanked his cast, crew and family.

Another Aussie snubbed

Chantelle Bozicevic

Another Aussie has lost out this evening.

Nick Cave was nominated for best original song for his work on the film Train Dreams, but he was beaten by the category's frontrunner, Golden from KPop Demon Hunters.

Star goes off-script

Maddison Leach

Javier Bardem appears to have gone off-script while presenting Best International Feature Film with Priyanka Chopra.

Before reading from the autocue to introduce the nominees, Bardem leaned into the mic and said "No to war" and "Free Palestine".

Chopra held her composure though seemed slightly confused.

Bardem was wearing two pins on his lapel, one that read "No a la Guerra" (Spanish for "No to War") and a second featuring Handala, a symbol of Palestinian identity and resistance.

Sentimental Value took out the award, making it the first time a film from Norway won the International Feature Film gong.

A history-making moment

Chantelle Bozicevic

The award for Best Cinematography was given to Autumn Durald Arkapaw for her work on Sinners.

While the film holds the record for the most nominations ever, Arkapaw has broken a record of her own.

Arkapaw is the first ever female to win in her category, and only the third to receive a nominations in the Oscars' 98-year history.
