Officer stops man for walking with hands in his pockets

An African American man who was stopped for walking on the street with his hands in his pockets has posted video of this incident online.

Brandon McKean, a resident of Pontiac in Michigan, says he was stopped by a police officer after people complained he was walking with his hands in his pockets and looked suspicious.

The incident happened on the US Thanksgiving holiday when the temperature was 0 degrees Celsius, according to AccuWeather.

An outraged Mr McKean demands to know why residents would call the police when he only had his hands in his pockets on a cold day.

“Walking by with your hands in your pockets makes people nervous when it’s snowing outside?” Mr McKean asks.

“There's 10,000 people in Pontiac right now with their hands in their pockets."

The officer responds apologetically that he was “making people nervous” and asks him if being stopped was an “imposition”.

"Hell yeah because of the whole police situation going on this country,” Mr McKean responds. “This is outrageous that you would let someone tell you that there's someone walking with their hands in their pockets.”

The incident comes shortly after riots and protests broke out in the country over the killing of an unarmed black teenager by a police officer.

The officer contended that there were a lot of robberies in the area and that McKean was able to leave without further issue.

The two exchanged a high five just before the video ended.
