Oblivious lionesses lick moisture from tent while stunned camper films from within

A South Africa woman has filmed an unusual encounter with one of nature’s fiercest predators.

Francie Francisca Lubbe was camping at Khiding campsite in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Botswana, on May 9 when her tent was approached by two lionesses.

Video filmed from within the tent by Ms Lubbe and posted to the Facebook group Kgalagadi Sightings yesterday shows the pair licking what appears to be dew or moisture from the tent’s clear mesh.

The lionesses do not appear to see the woman lurking just inches away, on the other side of the mesh.

The video has since received thousands of reactions and shares, with many Facebook users marvelling at this rare glimpse of the big cat’s softer side.

Due to their location within the Kgalagadi wildlife preserve, campsites like Khiding are known to be frequented by local wildlife.
