Sunshine Coast man in ‘mysterious’ Bali disappearance

A Queensland man has been reported missing in Bali after he failed to return to his hotel room without checking out or collecting any of his belongings.

Noosa man Peter Maynard was reported missing by the hotel Nusa Indah Bungalow last week, after he failed to check out on August 28 after a five-night stay.

Police said they found a significant number of Mr Maynard’s belongings in his hotel room including his surfboard, camera, iPad and passport.

He was last seen by hotel staff at breakfast on August 26, with local police saying they had no clues as to where the Australian man may have gone.

“If he had a marine accident, someone around the beach should know. If he went surfing, he would have bought his surf board. If he went diving, he must rent the diving tools in several dive operators here in Lembongan,” police chief Nyoman Suarsika told News Corp.

“But he did not. The case is mysterious, but we will keep doing our best to find him.”

News Corp reported that his wife and other family members are currently flying to Bali in order to join the search effort.
