Slow down.

That’s the simple message the New Zealand Transport Agency is hoping drivers will take away from their alarming new road safety ad.

The powerful advert entitled ‘Mistakes’ aims to teach drivers to think twice about speeding.

In the video, time slows down allowing two drivers on a collision course get out of their car and reason with each other.

One man implores the other not to crash into him as his young son is sitting in the back seat.

But the speeding driver replies he is simply going too fast to stop: “Maybe… if I was going a bit slower.”

The men, ashen faced and now resigned to their fate step back into their cars before a split second image of the crash flashes on screen, then fades to black and closes with a simple message:

“Other people make mistakes. Slow Down.”
