New dangers arise for MH17 inspectors

It should be getting easier; but it just keeps getting harder.

A new battlefront threat to Australian and Dutch police has emerged, with fears of landmines on the road to the crash site of MH17.

The Ukraine army has claimed that pro-Russian separatists have set up new firing positions, moved heavy artillery to the wreckage zone and placed landmines around the entrances to the surrounding territory.

It is a stark warning to Australian investigators, but every day information and misinformation is peddled in the region.

If they want to prove the claim they will have to mount a successful mission to the site.

In their last attempt, investigators tried to track a new route to the downed jetliner, only to come racing back, gunshots ringing in their ears.

Separatists and the Ukraine government have blamed each other for the dead-end the experts have hit, but there is a third player in the game.

In a nutshell, Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly the real master of the rebels, with much of rebels’ military hardware coming from Moscow.

Amid all the heartache, the gunfire and the frustration, there is a reminder of one simple fact: tomorrow, it will have been two weeks since MH17 came down.
