Mum fights carjackers as kids sit in back

A brave mother in the US has fought off a pair of masked men as they tried to steal her car with her two kids inside.

The mum had pulled in to a petrol station in Hialeah, Florida on Monday night when the two men approached another woman who was sitting in her car.

When the woman locked herself inside her vehicle and drove off, the pair moved onto the mum, who was outside her car filling up.

After one of the men attempted to jump into the driver’s seat the mum rushes towards him, pulls his mask off and drags him out of the car.

The two men then run off.

"She was a mom, and what that bad guy didn't know, in the backseat of that car were two kids," Carl Zogby of the Hialeah Police Department told CNN affiliate WSVN.

"She wasn't gonna let them be taken, so she fought."

The two would-be robbers drove off but were later caught by police after they crashed into a fence.

They have been charged with attempted carjacking and are yet to be bailed.
