Mother irate after childcare worker breastfed her lactose intolerant three-month-old son

A mother is calling for charges to be laid against a North Carolina childcare worker who breastfed her son expressly against her wishes.

Kaycee Oxendine recorded CCTV footage on her mobile phone which allegedly shows a Carrboro Early School worker adjusting her blouse and bringing the three-month-old boy to her chest on Friday.

Ms Oxendine works at the same centre as a pre-kindergarten teacher.

She claims her son's teacher informed her that he was constipated and another woman working in the nursery offered to breastfeed him to see if it helped.

"She said that she had a son and did I want her to put my child to her breast and breastfeed?" Ms Oxendine told WTVD.

"And I said no, that's nasty. We don't do things like that."

Ms Oxendine claims CCTV footage shows the childcare worker picking up her son and breastfeeding him for several seconds after she left the room.

The woman appears to have stopped after another employee who was in the nursery leaves the room.

To make matters worse, Ms Oxendine said she was forced to rush her son - who was born prematurely and is lactose intolerant - to hospital on Friday evening after he fell ill and started vomiting.

"To me, a criminal act was committed against him... Not only did you put your breast to my son, you also made my son sick because he's lactose intolerant. So you've put something in his body that his body can't digest," Ms Oxendine said.

Ms Oxendine says the woman was fired following the incident but that wasn't penalty enough and she should face criminal charges.

Carrboro Early School day care director Daron Council said the woman who allegedly breastfed Ms Oxendine's son was licensed and had worked in childcare for over a decade.

Carrboro police confirmed they are investigating the matter as misdemeanour child abuse and no charges have been filed yet.
