Morgan Freeman would be the actor many people would choose to guide them through the crisis - and the Hollywood icon has proven why after landing a malfunctioning plane without a worry.

The 77-year-old, who has held a pilot's licence since he was 65, had to land one of his planes four times on the weekend after it kept running in to problems in the air, he told the Hollywood Reporter.

He had been planning to fly himself to the Toronto Film Festival for the premiere screening of his latest movie, Ruth & Alex.

Luckily, as well a calm demeanour any airline pilot would envy, Freeman also owns two planes, so was able to take the second one without a worry and join co-star Diane Keaton on the red carpet.

"I just didn’t know how late I was," he said to reporters once at the festival.

"I was never in any danger."
