Moment iPhone explodes inside store

This might make you think twice about grabbing that new iPhone in the shop.

Video obtained 13 Action News shows an employee working on another device inside a Las Vegas repair shop when suddenly the Apple gadget explodes with a puff of smoke.

After narrowly avoiding injury, the staffer jumps out of his seat runs for help as the iPhone erupts into flames.

It’s believed the offending phone’s screen was due for replacement as a result of a heat-damaged battery.

Local phone repairer Paul Tataglio told 13 Action News temperatures in Las Vegas- which can rise above 40C in summer- could potentially be to blame for the explosion.

"The problem is when it bloats up just a little bit, it can cause your screen to crack a lot easier,” Mr Tataglio told the news station.
