Miracle baby born on same day as mother and grandmother

A baby girl born in the United States earlier this week came on a particularly special day for her family – the same date as her mother and grandmother.

On January 18, Aimee Hernando celebrated her 33^rd birthday; a day she has always shared with her mother who is 56.

That same day she went into labour with her fourth child.

“I went in and I told my doctor ‘she has to come before midnight’,” Mrs Hernando told ABC News.

Baby Miracle Joy was due at the end of January and arrived that evening in what the new mother described as “the best birthday present ever.”

“When I went into labour I just kept thinking ‘Oh my goodness! Is this really happening’,” Mrs Hernando said.

The stars also aligned when it came to birth weight.

“My mum’s birth weight was six pounds 10 ounces, mine was six pounds and nine ounces, and Miracle’s was six pounds and eight ounces. We just thought that was so cool.”

According to mathematician Keith Devlin, the chances of a three-generation shared birthday is one in 133,225.

Miracle’s name is made even more appropriate after Mrs Hernando’s seven-year struggle to get pregnant.

“We struggled with infertility for about nine years but we said if we ever had a girl we would call her Miracle Joy.”
