Further protests expected as violence spreads to West Bank

Protests are expected to resume in the West Bank later tonight, after the biggest clash between Palestinians and the Israeli defence force in almost a decade.
Two Palestinians were killed and several hundred were wounded after Israeli forces opened fire on demonstrators marching between Ramallah and East Jerusalem.
Reports suggest that around 120 Palestinians were treated for gunshot wounds after the demonstration was fired upon near a major military checkpoint.
The Israeli Defence Force said that “riot dispersal means” had been used to break up the protest after the Palestinians allegedly began to throw rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers.
The march came after the Palestinian Authority called for a “day of rage” to protest against ongoing violence in Gaza.
It is believed that protests will resume after midday local time, which will mark the last Friday of Islamic spiritual period Ramadan.
